Von Willebrand Disease
Guest: Emmanuel Favaloro, Sydney
A series of succinct educational lectures, from coagulation experts, designed to fit around your working day. In our fourth session we are joined by Emmanuel Favaloro, Principal Hospital Scientist in the department of Haematology, Westmead Laboratory, to discuss von Willebrand Disease.
The session is divided into two parts; part one will focus on introducing the condition, discussing the clinical and physiological aspects, and outline the different subtypes that can be observed.
Part two will take a deeper discussion of laboratory aspects of diagnosis, and touch on some of the challenges that it can pose. Assay types and their uses are also discussed with reference to how they contribute to a differential diagnosis of subtypes.
